Need a book not owned by the EvCC Library? We can usually borrow it at no cost to you from another library. Please keep in mind books may take 2-3 weeks to arrive.
1. Double check Primo OneSearch to ensure we don't have the book in print or as an ebook.
2. Go to the EvCC database, OCLC WorldCat.
3. If prompted, sign in with your campus network username and password.
4. Enter title, author or keywords into the search boxes. Check the Books limiter box to narrow your results.
5. Click on the item from the results list you want. Note that books with an EVERETT COMMUN COL icon are owned by us and not available to request from other libraries. If you need one of these books for some reason (i.e. our copy is lost or checked out), please contact a librarian.
6. Click on the title of the book you'd like to borrow.
7. Click on the ILL icon.
8. Fill out the form on the next page, double-checking that your phone or email is correct since we need accurate information to contact you when your book arrives.
9. Wait for a phone call or email telling you your book is available. ILL books can be picked up at the Circulation Desk during library open hours.
Use Interlibrary loan to get copies of most articles. While free for users, this service may cost us up to $40/article, so please request only what you need. There's a limit of 5 active interlibrary loan requests per person. Articles are usually emailed within a week.
1. When you find just a citation to an article, double-check our Electronic Journal Search since we may have the full-text of that article in a different database. Search the name of the journal (not the title of the article), making note of the date you need.
2. Sometimes full-text is available freely online. To check, copy and paste the whole citation in Google.
3. If you're still not able to find the article in full-text for free, fill out the Article Request Form (NOTE: You must be signed into your college email to complete the form.)
4. We will email the article to your college email address as soon as it arrives. If we cannot obtain the article, we'll let you know through your college email.
Q: When is my interlibrary loan (ILL) book due?
A. Due dates vary depending on the lending library's policies. The due date should be clearly marked on your item. If you have any questions about the due date, contact the Circulation Desk circulation@everettcc.edu or 425-388-9353. All your due dates can also be checked by signing into your Primo OneSearch account using your campus/Canvas login.
Q. Is there a limit to the number of ILL requests I can make?
A. We ask users have no more than 5 active ILL requests (both books and articles) at a time due to the cost and staff time involved in filling these requests.
Q. How soon will my book or article arrive?
A. Articles tend to arrive faster than books, often within a few days of your request, since they are sent electronically. Books may take 2-3 weeks. Occasionally, some items may not be available and you will be notified.
Q: My assignment is due this week. Can I get the article or book right away?
A. Books are unlikely to arrive within a week, though articles might. Contact a Reference librarian at library@everettcc.edu or 425-388-9354 who can usually find a similar source currently in our online or physical collection that is immediately available to you.
Q. I ordered my ILL book or article awhile ago. Can I check the status of my request?
A. Contact the Reference Desk library@everettcc.edu or 425-388-9354. We can usually check if the item has been sent or is still waiting to be fulfilled by another library.
Q. How do I pick up my ILL article?
A. Articles are emailed directly to your college email address and are yours to keep.
Q. How do I pick up or return my ILL book?
A. ILL books can be picked up at the Circulation Desk during library open hours. They can be returned 24/7 in the library book returns.
Q. Can I renew my ILL book if I'm not finished with it by the due date?
A. We need to request renewals from the lending library. Please email lmcill@everettcc.edu a few days before your book is due to get the process started.
Q. How much does ILL cost?
A. This service is free to current students and employees. The library sometimes pays a fee to borrow items, so please order only what you need.
Q. Can I use Interlibrary loan if I'm not taking classes this quarter?
A. ILL is only available to current, registered students and employees. Ask at your local public library for information about their ILL services.
EvCC Librarians can help you locate resources in print and online, narrow down your topic, and cite your sources.
